The 1960s were of great importance for the racing industry. Owners of everyday touring cars adapted aspects of racing cars, such as placing the engine behind the driver. So does Ferrari. Ferrari won the 1961 Grand Prix Championship with this design with the 156 F1 and two years later the first mid-engine Ferrari won the Lemans.

Since then, Sergio Pininfarina began encouraging Enzo Ferrari to design a new mid-engine road car. Although Enzo had designed some of the fastest road cars in history, the Italian car designer was very cautious about the dangers of a powerful engine in domestic cars.

Enzo agreed to work with Pininfarina to design a more mundane car, but with one condition: the 12-cylinder engine, which most racing cars use, would be replaced by a 6-cylinder engine. “So I had permission to develop the Dino,” says Pininfarina. The Ferrari 246 Dino owes its name to Dino Ferrari, Enzo's eldest son, who unfortunately died in 1956. 2295 cars of this model were later produced.

Our Ferrari 246 GT Dino was delivered new in 1971 and drives perfectly. This specific model still has its original beige interior and was repainted in 'metallic gray' 5 years ago. The car has been mechanically overhauled and cracks have been checked and repaired. A wonderful car to drive!
